Welcome to the Providence GIS PortalIntroduction:The City of Providence GIS Portal provides users with online mapping capability and access to published municipal data sets (including, but not limited to, zoning, parcels and building footprints). This service offers tools for viewing, navigating, and limited querying of both spatial and attribute data. The map service is designed such that depending upon the scale at which the user is zoomed, layers get added and removed from the layer's list. The more the user is zoomed in, the more layers will be available to view. The Providence GIS Portal is an ESRI Internet Map Service (ArcIMS), and is very data intensive. The initial connection requires large graphic, text files, and javascript files to be downloaded. The current service uses a light weight customized HTML viewer. The ArcIMS service is designed as an Image Server and requires significant communication between the clients and the server. So, please be patient and wait till all the frames have loaded completely.
